TwinSheet in real life!
The TwinSheet technique combines vacuum and pressure forming, forming and welding together two sheets in a single process. TwinSheet requires two separate tools and a special machine.
The TwinSheet technique yields a product with hollow and dense sections without the use of other gluing or attachment techniques.
The TwinSheet process creates three-dimensional details with functional surfaces on all sides. Typical characteristics of products made using the TwinSheet technique are strength, rigidity and low weight. TwinSheet details can also be
foamed internally.
Common applications
Pallets, medical equipment lids, electric seals and cabinets, recreational equipment, ventilation products and numerous parts for cars, airplanes and trains.
1. Vacuum forming tool
The tool is placed in the TwinSheet machine. The sheets are inserted.
2. Heating
The sheets to be formed are heated from above and below to between +170-210°C
3. Vacuum forming
Using the vacuum the plastic material is formed in the forming tools. The edges are welded together in the same process.
4. Cooling
Once the sheet has been moulded it is cooled and is then ready for after-machining.
